	Position: Senior Mold Designer Reports to: Director of Operations Date required: Immediately Compensation: According to skills and experience Relocation: Negotiable Position Description A Senior Designer at Marland Mold, Inc. creates mold concepts, assembly drawings, and detail designs; coordinates projects; checks all drawings before release; and provides information to manufacturing. Position Responsibilities *Job Preparation* Create concept layouts to support sales proposals for manufacture Provide alternative methods of mold design *Job Design* Prepare detailed functional mold designs Model or modify customer product for use in Marland’s design software Communicate all design requirements to Team Leader Prepare and attend Concept Design review with Customer Participate in manufacturing Pre-Job meetings Communicate status of tasks to Director of Operations Document designs as per customer design requirements Issue mold materials requisitions to Purchasing Determine and document certified dimension drawing requirements Select materials for mold components Select hardness and finishes for mold components Create hot runner manifold interface drawings and issue requisition *Production Involvement* Support the manufacture of all mold components Provide written or verbal directions for assembly of mold to Team Leader *Mold Tests* Support internal sample testing of molds and on location when necessary *Job Follow-up* Update Job data bases Review Job feedback notes from Team Leaders Education Requirements Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university or the equivalent to 15 years minimum of mold design experience working for a Class A mold maker. Skills Required Proficiency in Pro-E is a must. Knowledge of Unigraphics, Solid Works and AutoCad a plus. The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience designing high precision injection molds for beverage closures, thin wall packaging, dispensing and flip top closures.
